Ilford ART 300 paper

Quite, just agitate. Vertical slot washers can be an issue though for the first 20 min. or so of washing. My Calumet has plexi plates to cover the slots to prevent escapes. My Eco Wash has to be watched because of its flow over–under design.

Thanks I think you are saying that Ilford Art paper will remain sufficiently submerged or low enough in the liquid to allow the normal raising and lowering of each of the tray's corners to get a continuous flow over the surface and in fact as long as you do this the agitation is in effect no different from that which would apply to any other FB or indeed RC paper?

Am I correct?

It would still be useful to hear from any Nova users whether the paper has a tendency to try and float upwards to the extent of touching the sides

An alternative is to coat the paper of your choice with liquid emulsion. I use Fabriano with Liquid Light. Great surface for hand-painting:

Nice hand painting example! Yes, from time to time I do liquid emulsion as well (I use tetenal). My plan is to get small box of Ilford ART 300, and then if I will like it (and I know I will ), to find similar paper 30x40cm and coat it with liquid emulsion.
 
In the Nova, the weight of the clip (or clips for a big sheet) keeps the paper down in the slot. Agitation keeps the surface off the side of the tank, or it seems to work anyway (largest I've tried is 40,6cm wide).
 
Thanks MartinP It is what I thought should be the case in theory given the Nova set-up and the clips but it is always nice to get confirmation from various users

I have used it in a Nova with no problem. I washed it in a Paterson washer. The wire handles of the print holder keep it submerged.

Washing is a huuuuge pita (puta?). But the paper ads enough to the image and feel that I think I can put up with the pita.

Nice shot! If you didn't have any cars in the scene you'd almost mistake it for a photo from 1919. JW
 
The only good thing is that in 30 years it will start to look good.
My 20 year old street shots with cars in them are starting to look good. Finally in 10 years they will have matured to full completion!
