Problem with a lot of these Rollei films is that they are basically rebranded aerial films. And, now that Rollei is out of business their availabilty is only temporary anyway.
Efke would be the only alternative, and it appears to be prohibitively-priced. £80.50 is the equivalent, currently of about $110U.S., which is right in line with the price of the Portra 70mm films available. EUR 83 seems in line, but 166 is CRAZY! That'd come out to the equivalent of EUR 8.30 per 220 length.
I guess that respooling aerial films is a viable option, but I want films that have natural panchromatic sensitivites not extended-reds designed for foliage photography from 20,000 feet!
Seems a shame, have all 70mm users got freezers stuffed with stock from years gone by?
I do. It would have to be an interesting film for me. Wasn't the Agfa B&W aerial near IR?
As a possible extension of the Harman special sheet film production scheme, is there any interest in something similar in FP4/HP5 in 70mm perforated?
......
When we first discussed it, Simon Galley estimated it would need a £20-30k order to kick it off - this then came down to 120 cans, so 60 cans is a big concession from Harman. So is there enough of a user base in 70mm to keep a regular supply of the format on tap, in very popular emulsions? We await the response with interest.
.....Having run it past the planners at Harman, they are prepared to cut it as a special order for Silverprint. We would have to order a minimum of 60 cans of 30 metres, in either film type, and keeping it priced as competitively as possible it would sell at £80.00 + VAT per roll. ......
In Martin's first post of this thread he mentioned a cost of £80.00 + VAT.
As for Delta, my lenses are old and prefer HP-5. Delta would sould like Hip-Hop music to them....
But that was about 20 months ago.
Mine are old too, but have kept up with the times.
Besides, Delta isn't exactly 'fresh' either. But you're right: neither is hip-hop...
Still, rather Delta than FP4 for me. And rather FP4 than HP5.
So by now the price will have gone down, just like computer prices!
I'll buy what the group wants. It's not likely that we will get more than one emulsion. So if it's Delta, I'm still in. I can always use my 110 f/2 Plannar if i need more speed.
