Hi all,

Can anybody please enlighten me as to the current availability or otherwise of Ilfochrome papers and chemistry? I am particularly interested in availability within Australia. I phoned the large photographic store here in Melbourne and their information was sketchy (as usual). Is it true that this part of the Ilford company is still based in Switzerland and is still a separate entity from the Harman/Ilford film part of the company?

The color part of the company is located in Switzerland and is called Ilford. It makes only Ilfochrome.

The B&W portion is located in England and makes B&W film and paper. They are no longer the same company. They were 'divorced' when Ilford hand financial problems. The part in England has a different name but can use the Ilford name in their B&W products.

The Ilfochrome product line, along with digital printing products, is operated by Ilford Switzerland, which was purchased by Oji Paper from Japan. It's a totally separate company, but still sharing the Ilford brand with Ilford Photo in the UK, owned by Harman. There is still some cross-polination in North America, as Ilford Imaging, U.S. still distributes the products of both companies, and manages the Ilford Forum on www.ilfordphoto.com. I have no clue about distribution in Australia, however.

Dear All,

Rbarker has all the correct info, and the others on the thread, I have pm Kevin as well, ILFOCHROME is alive and well and being manufactured by ILFORD Imaging Switzerland.
