I store my developer in foil winebags, both XTOL and D72(Dektol clone). The labels fell off! I'm planning to attempt a test using some Ilford RC paper,on the assumption that the print developer should reveal itself by a faster reaction time. Is there method in my madness,or can someone suggest a better method?

D72 will likely fizz a bit when mixed with stop bath, or vinegar, but your method will likely work just as well.

Sounds good - put a drop of working strength of each on the paper, and the paper developer should develop faster.

I can see a plan in your method. I would expect for Dektol to develop faster to a darker, rich black. BY THE WAY,D72 IS Dektol! unless you are referring to a home-brew version.
