I bought an old photo at a rummage sale today and wondered if anyone could identify the subject/area. I think it would be western USA, but not sure.

The photo is 8x10, looks sepia toned and is on "textured" pebbly-surfaced paper. Any guesses?

thanks,

Jon

Fort Hale is historical; Since 1985, 10th Mountain has been at Fort Drum New York... where the mountains might be even more cold and trechorous than the Rockies.

Correct. I was referring to the initial start and World War II involvement.

President Biden recently designated Fort Hale as a National Monument -- just one more thing he has done without much hoopla. All those buildings are long gone, and the valley had spent the last 75 years returning to its natural state. There's little left of the "fort", but the proclamation preserves the beautiful valley in its entirety -- which developers have been greedily "eyeballing" for decades. "THAR'S MONEY TO BE MADE IN THEM THAR HILLS!!!".
