Hello all,

First, I want to apologize to the guy that posted a thread yesterday about the score he found at a garage sale, I'm not trying to upstage him, but I had to share this with someone (my wife just doesn't seem that excited for some reason).

I responded to an add in the local classifieds that stated 'getting rid of misc darkroom stuff'. I phoned and asked him if he had any 16x20 trays and what he wanted for them. He told me he did, but the price was that I would have to take all of the 'stuff' he was getting rid of. I agreed without much thought, assuming it was a bunch of bottles/tongs/leftover 'stuff'.

When I got there, he told me to back my truck up to the garage door. You can probably see where this is going. I left with the box of my 1/4 ton full. A brief list:

Enlarger 1 - Omega Super Chromega D Dichroic II
Enlarger 2 - Leitz Focomat V35 Autofocus
3 lenses for the Omega
7 negative carriers for the Omega
2 - Rodenstock CA 30
Saunders 20x24 4-blade easel
Saunders 11x14 4-blade easel
2 gralab timers
A box full of filters, drying racks, safelights, measuring beakers, tongs, etc.

oh yeah, and the trays
3 - 16x20
5 - 11x14
2 - 8x10

I couldn't believe it when he shook my hand and thanked me for taking all this 'stuff'.

I am still fairly new to analog, so am left with a couple questions?
1) I've never used either of those enlargers before (only a Saunders/LPL 670 DXL), does anyone have manuals for either enlarger? Or can you give me a brief rundown on the quality of them? I did a quick search, the Leitz looks like a pretty good enlarge, but only one manual in German. I found that a lot of people use the Omega, but didn't find much info about it.
2) Has anyone used a Rodenstock CA30 before? Again, I did a quick search but didn't turn up much about it.
3) How do I convince my wife that I now need half the basement for my darkroom, and that I should probably get a 4x5 camera now that I have an enlarger big enough to handle it?

Thanks everyone.
Craig

Craig:

Congratulations!

I have a pdf of the manual for a Omega Super Chromega D Dichroic II head mounted on an Omega D6 chassis. It is too large to upload here, but if you pm your email to me I can send it.

The head is very good, and most of the Omega Chassis' are excellent.

As for your wife, try:

a) "It will keep me out of trouble", or
b) "Hand made prints make wonderful gifts".

Your wife is right. You don't need any of those worthless junk, especially the Leitz something. Let me save both of you the trouble. I'll back my truck up and haul them away for you....

Here is how you handle SWMBO. You hand here a receipt. When she asks what it is for, you reply, 'I am selling you my soul for half of the basement.'

SWMBO?

Isn't that marriage certificate thing the receipt for your soul?

Never mind learning about analogue. With that kind of luck stick a pin into the stock market listings, then sink all your savings into whatever was chosen.

Be quick! It won't last. Sargeant Bilko had 24 hrs of solid luck but only realised it was his lucky day with minutes to go to midnight. I won't say more in case you ever get a chance to see it. That episode is really worth seeing if you ever get the chance :D:

Why can everyone find 4x5 enlargers for free but me?

Maybe I just don't look enough.

I got a DeVere 203 for free but I will have to transport it 8000 miles to get it home. Do you think that still counts as free?
