what do you need to know? how do i know what i have?

i do know its an avus 9x12.

i have 3 holders with sheaths. i can tell you the physical measurements but i also see charts with edge profiles that look like any of the will fit.

Thanks, it is what I need to know. I'll check mine this evening at home and see what kind of holders will fit. it's better to find a range of manufacturers and look for those. I seem to remember that agfa, zeiss ikon, voigtlander, ica and KW were all the same design, but have to check as very small differences in rails and dimensions could be difficoult to be evaluated buying online. are those in your picture fitting properly your avus?

these are working perfectly. the kodak i noticed has a different lip but fits perfectly as well. the lip thickness is the same as the others.

I measured the outside dimensions of the black holders.... 100mm x 150mm

The lip is 1mm thick x 1.5 mm wide.

helps at all?

thats very helpfull.... thank you. at least ive got a good reference to go by.

its just so confusing with so many edge types and brands. when the sellers list them, they give such omnious descriptions. when you ask, they just dont know.

thanks for the help.

I'm happy you think it helpfull. I see on the auction site lots of offers. I'd buy voigtlander's as it's the same brand as the camera and as that is the best holder brand between all mentioned. Here in europe if you are not in a hurry you can find good offers for very low prices.

and: don't know if you plan to use plates or film, but if you buy holders with old plates inside you can use film as well; just insert film in front of plates and close the darkslide carefully. it works and is much easier than looking for those very rare adapters to hold film in plate's holders like these

oh yes those adapters.... ive donesome experimenting... just put a piece of matt board and slip the bottom of my film into the bottom of the film holder. just have to be carefull how high i lift the darkslide so i dont go above the top edge of the film. they work very nicely.

so far the 3 holders i have came with the sheaths.... but im ready if new ones dont have.

the problem with ordering from europe... postage kills the price. 5 holder @ $5 ea plus $40 shipping... mmmmm not a very good deal anymore.

thanks again.

So I bought holders for my AVUS, took a chance and got the ICA 721/6 holders from ebay. It took 3 weeks to here, shipped from Czech Rep. They fit very nicely, no light leaks, darkslide felt seal is in good condition. They appear in very nice condition with very little rust and no damage at all. Just needs some metal adjustments so the darkslide can run in the grooves a bit smoother. No film sheaths incl.

This is what I bought......

Price was good.
