I worked out how much carbonate was in the actual working dilution of each film tank I use and add the dry chemical to the water then add the A solution. I don't make up a B solution. Only one pipette and no chance of cross contamination.

Do you have to get out your weighing scales, or just use a teaspoon type of measurement, which I think would be accurate enough as long as it is consistent.

I weigh the carbonate and use a syringe for the A solution, and don't find that troublesome. I'd bet teaspoons would work, and I think I'll try weighing out the amounts and seeing if the volumes work out to spoon sizes. I think development is forgiving enough for consistent close measurement to work.
