... and it's so much better than working in the dark! OK, this might be old hat to most of the vets here, but to a newbie like me, this was a revelation!
Minus 30C outside - what else can you do but catch up on some b&w film processing. Whipped through 32 4x5s and 6 rolls of 120!
This was my first set in daylight using some new aquisitions: a changing bag, Unicolor Print Drum and a Unicolor Film Drum. Man, what a difference than working wet in the dark in a tiny bathroom.
OK, the 120 film I did do daylight before, but only one roll at a time since I only had a single roll tank. But for the 4x5, I was using the dip and dunk tanks. Manual agitation, twiddle thumbs, agitate, repeat ..... well, you know the drill.
I did have the rotary base for the drums, which worked really well. Did the 4x5, 4 sheets at a time. The 120, did them in a batch of 4 and 2.... all this while watching some racing on the tube.
Best thing was perfect negs - no scratches, streaks or uneven development. I believe I only used 1650ml of D76 stock for the whole lot - good savings to boot!
Here are a few shots off my Agfa Record III.
If you have any tips to pass on about using the drums, I'd be glad to hear them. This was my first use and am really stoked about it - Woohoo!
Cheers, Bharat
