So after several years of really wanting a screw mount Leica I took the plunge and bought one complete with CLA receipts from 2 months ago. As of today I officially have in my Possession a very nice 1951 IIIf black dial. I had never previously handled one and had only seen them in photos, I can't believe how small and light it is, and thats a good thing. I've yet to get a Leica lens and as soon as I find a nice 3.5 Elmar or a Summitar for under $350 (yeah I know not likely) I'll get one. For now I'm using my Industar 61 and judging by the test roll I shot this morning there might be a tiny bit (3") or less of back focus at 1 meter at f2.8, or I could have just wobbled a bit. Any further distance and it's fine wide open. I very rarely shoot apertures larger than f8 or subjects closer than 10 feet so this most likely won't be a problem while I wait for a deal on a Leica lens. For the most part I'm just extremely happy to have a Barnack Leica, I'm still getting used to the leader trimming and loading process though.
