I have bought a "new" 4x5, unknown camera, it's called Bossy.

It has dual rails, and the front parts of the rail can be lifted to make the camera more compact.
It's something between a studio and a view camera.

The main body looks somewhat like an Omega rail camera the university has many moons ago.

Looks like a nice camera, hybrid between studio and field camera.

It looks pretty "boss"!

Do people still say that? I doubt it. Anyway, congratulations on your Bossy.

Don't think so, but I accidently said "groovy' today.

Enjoy!

Apologies for this late post/question: I see one of these for sale and am intrigued. I currently have a Toyo-View, which is very nice, but also heavy. Do you happen to know how much your camera weighs? Also, the front panel (that holds the lens board) looks like it's the same shape and size as a Toyo-View panel. The Toyo panel is 158mm square. Is yours the same size? And finally, have you used the camera much? How did you like it? Thanks so much.

Again sorry for this late reply, but I think it is a good idea to collect everything about these Bossy things in one thread.

I am also interested in these cameras (I already have the very simple but beautiful "Bossy Box 4x5" but would love to geht an upgrade). The main problem I see is the availability of lens boards and replacement parts, if not fit those of another manufacturer (Toyo?). My "box" requires boards with 115x115 mm side length and a thickness of 2 mm, for which I have found 3D-printed boards. So has anyone been able to gather experience in the meantime, whether there are lens boards that could fit?

What else I found out is that these cameras were probably sold under the names "Tany View", "Bossy View" and "S&K View". There were different models, also without folding mechanism. As manufacturer I found on the one hand the indication "Yayoi Seiko Ltd" but also "Shiro Products Ltd". I also found out that Bossy apparently also sold studio tripods and tripod heads in Japan. Do you have more information?
