I just got back from a review of my prints and was accepted to hang a show this June at the Library in Valley Cottage New York. It is one of the nicer local spaces and more discerning and seriously dedicted to exhibiting Art than most small Libraries so I am very pleased to get in, especially in 2006, If accepted the waiting list is usually well over a year.

It will be 100% traditional silver gelatin prints and will proudly say so in all publicity and signage.

Laz,
I had better see your name turn up in the guestbook. The only way that I could make it more convenient for you is if I came to your home and nailed it up on your living room walls. :D

Congratulations Neal. I wish I could be in New York to see it, but I'm willing to bet the work will be fantastic, and profitable at same time.

That's great. Too bad there's so much map between here and there. But, good luck, nonetheless.

Perhaps you could talk someone into "covering" the show, and post some pics?

Thanks Sanjay,
I was sorry to miss you in Suffern last July. I will let you know more information as I get it. They offered a reception but I haven't decided whether to have one yet. If I do, I will let you know.

Thanks to everyone else too! The support and inpiration of this community is directly responsible for giving me the motivation last year to take my prints off my dingy walls and give them some fresh air and some fresh viewers.

Great news, Neal. I'll definately attend. Maybe you can post a reminder on this thread when you get an exact date?
Take care,
Tom

John,
We'll and lay out a nice spread of Saltines with Velveeta (not Velvia) and pass around a bottle of Mad Dog 20/2O in a paper bag.

Thanks all. I'll post updates as things come together.

Well, at least some stuff I'm used to. (Be sure you have enough straws for the wine.) Sounds perfect. (Any chance you could set out some grilled squirrel and possum to add a little protein to the spread??)

We'll have to wait and see what I hit with my car on my way to the show.

Well then, I'll stop and pick up anything I hit as well. I'm keeping the venison though...there's just not enough time to clean one of them suckers up and cook' em before everyone gets hungry enough to ask: "what's on the plate anyhow??" I think cries of: "Bambi!!! OH NO!!!" would interfere with concentrating on the photographs.

Careful. Sometimes you get the Deer... Sometimes the Deer gets you, or at least your car. I had a friend up in your neck o' the woods who recently had his vehicle customised by Bambi. Luckily he was OK.

I kind of dropped the ball on this thing. I got the all the work (28 FRAMES!) together but didn't have the time to do anything on publicity and such.
This place insists on making all hanging decisions and putting them up (Woo Hoo! less manual labor for me) so I dropped off the prints a few days ago and just saw 'em up on the walls today. Can't say that I would have hung them in the same way but what can you do? It is always a kick to see your prints in different surroundings. All in all, I think that it is a fairly decent effort and the comments in the guestbook show that people really appreciate seeing traditional B&W photography for a change. I love the "it makes me want to set set up my old darkroom again" comments. Seems like there are a few latent APUG members floating around out there .
Of course the nicest thing is that now I can stop being a frame assembler, mat cutter, glass cleaner and return to actually taking pictures again.

Anyhow, if anyone happens to be in the neighborhood in June, it is about a mile North of the Palisades Park Mall (West Nyack) exit of the NYS thruway on Rte. 303. Let me know if you plan to drop by. Maybe we can meet up over there.
