Cutting negatives, a nightmare. It's a market gap, I believe everybody would pay a few bucks for a good gadget that helps cutting straight and precise, with a strong magnifying glass on top and a sharp blade.

I just roll mine up and stick them back in the film can. You guys that cut them, cut the corners at each end and they will slide into the sleeves much better. Pat

They should perforate film every five frames so we can just separate them with a gentle pull......

Worse. Lately I've been shooting Eastman movie film XX. It doesn't come numbered. I used to shoot bulk recording film and I still shoot the remaining stock of Aero Infrared, neither of which is numbered. I get to number the frames before cutting them. The numbers can be, depending upon use, every bit as important as the picture. How is someone going to order prints without them?

Someone is going to wonder why I don't just use films that already have numbers. Answer: They aren't the right films. Of course I'm complaining, but I'd rather do it than not. It's part of the game.

I just cut up a roll from a Rollei 35s and it has the nasty habit of extremely close spacing. Wish it had another mm or two between them, I'd give up a frame for the extra space. But then again that 37th frame is always the best.

I remember seeing a film of Garry Winogrand chopping up his negs, six at a time, on and on and I thought well there you go, just part of the job. Being observant is only part of it.

PETE.

i thought of that too,
but some winders are mal-adjusted
and would rip the film right in the camera

to add of my litany of complaints,
i don't like thin plastic cheep negative files either
if the film curls a little bit
the whole file turns into a plastic tube.
