My dear Indian friendIf you are looking for a concentrated developer like Rodinal but based on PPD, there's probably none.
Well...I agree with your friend Rudy, if you research its toxicity it causes severe permanent allergy in some cases. It is definitely not advisable to sell or distribute formulae based on it. Using substitute Microdol or Perceptol formulas gives a fine grain result and might better serve that purpose.
That man did not and will not disclose the formula he uses, he only wants to sell it.You might want to keep PPD aside for now and consider making a Diafine substitute with what you have. A Diafine like two bath developer would be a good addition to your portfolio of developers especially if your customers are desirous of gaining some speed.
Another product that could be of interest to your customers is a monobath. Of course, monobath is a compromise when it comes to image quality and control but many like its convenience of use.
That man did not and will not disclose the formula he uses, he only wants to sell it.
And why do you think that I am a man with no experience?for experienced users who know to take precautions IMO
You can buy a robot to prepare this formula for you, so that you are completely reassured and safehave my fan on, PPD stains just about anything but glass and stainless.
Yes, you are absolutely right. There's no secret formula
So here I want us all to cooperate and exchange ideas in order to create and design a completely new formula, and I was not looking for a secret formula (I already know that there is no such formula for that element)
This forum has many wonderful members who have deep and long experiences, and they have long experiences and great successes, so I hope that we will think together of cooperating with each other to design this formula together,
Some suggestions can be put forward and then the door for discussion is opened.
Thank you for that huge dose of frustration. If you're insistent on using PPD despite the associated risks, try to get hold of Catechol (beware: another toxic chemical) and make MCM-100 which is a reasonably good developer (but must be used with proper care due to the toxicity of its ingredients).
If you can't get Catechol, there's one more PPD-based developer that could be of some interest to you. It uses Vitamin C which should be easy for you to get. However, it's not a widely used developer. So you might not be able to get much help on developing times for your films.
Halcyon superfine grain film developer [Archive] - Large Format Photography Forum
I've been playing with this formula for a few years, on and off, refining and tweaking here and there, and now it has become my primary developer for all films and formats. The advantage of superfine grain for small formats is obvious, but the advantages for larger formats might be less so. In...www.largeformatphotography.info
