It started small.

I bought a 55 mm extension tube for the Hasselblad.

Then I bought the other three tubes: 8mm, 16mm, and 32mm extension tubes.

Then I bought a back cover for the Hasselblad body, just in case I needed it.

Then I bought two new darkslides.

Then I bought two A-12 film backs.

Today I had a major G.A.S. attack:

I bought a Hasselblad 903 SWC. and I still have G.A.S.!

Help!

Steve

There is no cure! :surprised: All you can do to help soothe the pain of GAS is to get out and take some photos with that new found gear.
Our condolences to your wallet, but we expect to see some photos as to proof of your treatments.

I am afraid you are lost..............

But congrad's on the 903 SWC, you will love the camera !

Peter

It sounds like you might need some "Hair of the dog."
Check in tomorrow to let us know how you made out.

I envy you... I am steadfastly resisting the G.A.S. attack my Mamiya RB67 has cursed me with. I want the 45mm and 82mm extension tubes, along with two more 120 backs and the 50mm and 180mm lenses...........

I just looked at the price. Good lord, that's not a gas attack that's 3 months of my salary. yeesh. Congrats and you better post some photos from it.

resistance is futile... and not all that satisfying.

i too succumbed earlier this week and acquired a rangefinder camera and lens (according to the UPS tracking info, it is currently "out for delivery").

i feel so ashamed.

The feeling will pass.

Indeed. That's the worst bit: the bad feeling will pass, the things you bought will not.

There is the twofold reward GAS-addicts get everytime they give in to their illness. The 'kick', thrill even, of getting through a spell of feeling terrible unscathed (which is the major thing in GAS), and the enjoyment the thing money was squandered on (the minor, almost insignificant thing) brings.

Terrible ... isn't it?

Gosh and I thought I was alone out here trying to put KEH out of business by buying everything they had.... good to know I'm not alone in this morass....perhaps we need our own 12 or 13 step program?

since i buy mostly used, i tell myself i can alway recover most all my "investment" anytime i want to sell... this nice juicy rationalization always leads me astray.

the first step to recovery is admission... the next step is to recognize negative patterns... OK, now what?

GAS

Its not life threatening! just hard on the wallet or in my case hard on the wife and the wallet. I cured my GAS when I got my Rolleiflex 3.5T, got a free Rolleicord with xenar lens and rediscovered my F3(tried to sell it but no takers). With 2 4X5's(linhof TechIII and cambo monorail) and a 5X7 B&J I tell myself there isn't a subject out there I can't effectively photograph unless its underwater!

I had forgotten to include a 6cmx6cm negative holder for my Omega 5XL Super Chromega D Dichroic II.

<sigh>

I've been working away from home for a week. Before I left I set up some 'snipes' on an eBay, hoping to get a folding roll film camera. I was disappointed a few days later when I got the chance to log into the Hotel's wi-fi network that I had not won anything - bids all too low.

It is a bit boring being away from home - nothing to do but surf the internet and... have a drink.
Somewhat... er, relaxed, I bid on a few more cameras wednesday evening, a little more ambitiously. I came home today to a FURIOUS other half. The eBay invoices were sent to the home computer where she logged in and discovered them. :surprised:
I am now awaiting the delivery of FIVE cameras.
I drank a little too much maybe?

(Still, I think I got a couple of bargains!)

I traded in my ex and even though I could not get much for her. The mileage was too high, but the new models are terrific and life has never been better!

Good morning, WHLogan;

Obviously a kindred spirit. Indeed, you are not alone. As an indication, right now there are three (3) boxes on the way from Smyrna to Latte Land.

Also, a year and a half ago, KEH sent to me a Christmas card.

I have been running behind the wagon for so long that it is almost impossible to remember riding on it.
