Did you hear that from Obi Juan?

I had a computer with GPS software that I used for off-roading. It was a Toshiba and was called Toby Juan. Its replacement is called Lost Juan. There had been a Little Juan and Big Juan, but I still have Mega Juan.

I'm so confused, I don't know where I am.

Jeff

The cause of the slow traffic and grid lock in northern Virginia is the people who live there. They are lip lazy and shorten Northern Virginia to NOVA. Not "nova" as something new or a new star, but "nova" which in Spanish means "It does not move" and when used in reference to motor vehicles means "its broken down".

There is a Honeymooners show where Ed Norton is in Tiajauna and orders two tacos from a street vendor.
The vendor asks "¿Dos tacos?"
Ed Norton answers "No, dese tacos!" and points to tacos on the cart.

No, no, no. The photographers lamenting over current slow analog processing service! :D

It was taking him/her weeks to get prints back from Walmart.

It was a place where they castrated oxen back in the old days.
Around here "nard" means testicle.

Who is Juan Day? The minilab operator?

Geez guy, you should know that he is the brother of Dennis Day, but his accent prevented him from being a great singer in the US, and his last name kept him from fame south of the border down Mexico way.

No one can explain to me why the area I live in is East Wellington. Wellington Hall is just north of central Nanaimo. South Wellington is, well, south of town. East Wellington is WEST of the city. It's not East of much except the mountain that is the city's backdrop.

But this is the city with Buttertubs Marsh, Jingle Pot Road, Dingle Bingle Hill, and Twiggly Wiggly Way. What's a little directional confusion in a city where children named the streets?

If you're looking for interesting place names, look no further than Newfoundland.

Where's Doris in all this?

Yep, in Mexico they said "Day nada".

Here in Minnesota the founders could not get their directions straight. If you live in West St Paul you need to go directly south from St Paul to get there. North St Paul is east of the border. Fortunately South St Paul is south of West St Paul.

Just thinking.......

How about East Aurora? An Aurora can cover the whole heaven! Can you have an east Heaven? And East? If you go far enough, you are in the West!

I have a headache.

Mr. Glass is right and Chevrolet tried to market the "Nova" in Mexico.

They did, successfully. The claim that "Nova" (a word in Spanish as well as in English) was taken to mean "no va" is a myth, and well explained if you check Snopes.com.

When we were kids and had a small forest behind our house, we named various features, like the Rock Road, the Big Pit, and the Big Hill.

When I got older I was disappointed to learn what certain exotic sounding names meant, like Grand Canyon, Rio Grande, and Mesa Verde.
