There already was a exhibition in Brussels 2012 and 2014 in Vienna.

But nevertheless that aspect of him is little known.

Yeah, most of his movies have a strong visual or 'photographic' sensibility about them (but I'm not sure about his first films from the 1950's which I haven't seen). Almost every Kubrick movie was different from the one before it so it's hard to ascribe a 'style' to him, however his movies where always beautifully composed/filmed, from Lolita onwards. The opening sequence to 'The Shining' (which was not actually shot by Kubrick but certainly to his directions) is stunning. The only film of his that I don't love (visually or otherwise) is his most famous amongst photographers because of the fast 50mm Zeiss he had adapted to shoot parts of it with, 'Barry Lyndon'. If any one is interested in Kubrick films but never seen any then see '2001' or maybe 'Dr. Strangelove', 'The Shining', 'Full Metal Jacket' or 'Eyes Wide Shut'. 'Clockwork Orange' is a bit hard core (it has rape scenes) and I suspect it would put most people off Kubrick, but it's a great film, especially on the big screen.

Kubrick's film Full metal Jacket was shot in England because he lived here and was terrified of flying, many of the Vietnam scenes in the movie were shot in London on the South Bank of the Thames and the palm trees were planted in refuse skips. I have this on good authority, I used to know a lady who lived next door to him and his family who knew him well.

The book I know of is the catalogue of the Vienna exposition "Eyes Wide Open"
There is also a older book of the same title but that is a biography.
