I bought me some BTZS tubes -- question about washing

Just placed my order this morning. Can't wait. I've been trying to figure out what is good *for me* in a long run. I chose the tubes cause it uses minimal chemistry and I have a semi dark garage and walk in closet I can use.

Now for the interesting part. What are you all using to wash your 4x5's? With Jobo, you can keep in the tank and wash. I was thinking of getting one of those 4x5 film baskets that go in the Gravity Works and use some plastic containers from Target. Or I can put them in 4x5 sheet film hangers.

Any other Macgyver'isms for washing 4x5 film out there?

I just use the dish washer at home. My wife complains about the fixer smell on our dishes, but I stopped noticing it. tim

Film Hangers and tank, then you'll switch to them for deving too! You can't do DBI w tubes, and it's soo worth it to see what you've got before you put it in the fixer. You don't even need the green safelight, just a small flashlight w a green mask and point it at the ceiling, works great. Anyway, just what I found to work for me.

I did the hanger thing/gavity works for washing for a living for a while. Our lab then switched to this newfangled thing called the Jobo. It was awesome. I can't afford one now though. I had the automagic jobo, it was the Ronco of film processing.


What I like about hangers is my ability to process by inspection. I would guess I can do that too with the btzs tubes.

Inspection? I processed film via inspection for a living. My darkroom ain't that dark anymore. I do have the filter. One of these days, when I get a complete light freee darkroom, I'll do it again.

If I'm only doing one or two, I use the bathroom sink and let the water trickle while the overflow runs out the ... overflow - where else? Otherwise I use a tray.

My dishwasher won't do film. I'm lucky that she does my dishes and not just her own ......
