I am a proud new father...

After few weeks of waiting, I am finally the proud father of a Mamiya 645 Super. This my first medium format. The father is going well, the mother too but she had some difficulties with the cost. I had to give my digital fuji S7000 in adoption, so now my family is 100% film with his brother Canon Rebel 2000.

After I showed some samples to the mother, she was willing to be a model again for me. Hope to show you some samples (of the Mamiya, not the mother) as soon as I can. Damn I am proud. I won't sleep tonight.

I have a Pentax 67 and a Minolta X-700 and I must say that I'm amazed at how much 35mm negative is sooo small compared to 120.

Don't worry - it's perfectly possible to shoot both 35mm and MF. And LF and ULF too - just not simultaneously.

I've just been in the darkroom and printed contact sheets of ten films - two 35mm, four 645 and four 6x9. They all have their uses. Tomorrow I've got a stack of 5x7" films and a box of 9x12cm plates to print...

Thanks all for your comments, hope to have fun with it. I already had a lot of pleasure to load my first 120 film. Is it normal that 4 rolls fit in the same back at the same time? (just kidding)

And that's how I know that APUG is really a family and a community: I too was hoping for a baby picture. If this was just a geekmeet site, we'd all be disappointed if it were a baby!

Goodness that must have been an uncomfortable birth. Tell it to tuck it's little shoulders in next time. Still, good practice for Large Format - meanwhile don't get an inferiority complex, after all it could have been a titsy 35mm.

Speaking as a Mamiya user and a proud parent I'm sure you'll be happy. There again mine's bigger than yours.

The comment regarding 35mm may seem snobish but it's not. I blame APUG-The-Evil for introducing me to the world of RF. I would very much get my hands on a Bessa or a Zeiss-Ikon for action photography.

A camera is a tool. Some shots need a 35mm tool others an 8X10 tool, I have no problem with that. I often stick a 35mm RF in with my 4X5 for a day out.
