A tale of good service:
The video card on my Macbook Pro, early 2011, died. Appel has a repair advisory on this part so I took it in. They fixed it for free--way, way out of warranty with no AppleCare. They replaced the motherboard, the power supply and also replaced the RAM. I had 16 GBs in there but for reasons too complicated to go into here they put in 4GB (two 2 GB modules).
Except for the RAM issue, amazing service--I basically have a new computer, though of 2011 vintage.
I had bought the original RAM from OWC. So I contacted them and told them that Apple felt the RAM needed replaced. They immediately sent me a new set of 16 GB RAM, no charge. I had made the original purchase og RAM in early 2011, also.
How's that for standing behind your products? The downside for Apple and OWC is that I probably won't buy a new laptop this year as I had planned to. The upside is I will buy a new one for my kid to go along with all the other Apple and OWC products I own. In fact, I just bought a 1 TB SSD from OWC to replace the CD-ROM drive in my MacBook Pro, plus a shell for the now displaced CD-ROM drive which I gave to my daughter.
The upshot here is that I have two new-ish used less than one hour) 2 GB RAM modules for sale. I have no real idea of what they are worth. Name a fair price and they are yours, from Apple to me to you.
