RRF should be up later today or tomorrow. Waiting for parts.

Akitadog

How come US Home Security isn't involved in fixing this? Doesn't it constitute a terrorist attack?

They might have the worst host I've ever heard of. It would take a decent host about 30mins to simply copy their files and database to a working server. Any decent host would have done this for them within the first hour of the outage. A response such as "there's been a hardware failure, we are transferring your data to a new server and we'll have you running again asap" is not at all uncommon. Waiting on parts? wow. I'm sure they'll be switching hosts as soon as they can, and setting up their own off-site backups.

If they did not have the servers bolted down and someone knocked the server off a shelf, they would be waiting for parts. That happened to an unnamed photographic website.

But Siriusly folks, RFF may had come across the deleted thread in cyberspace!

I'm not a tech in real life or tv but I've been in enough chilled server rooms to think that a server just dropping on the floor has to be pretty remote. Not impossible but unlikely. There would have to be gross stupidity for that to happen, which I'm not ruling out in this case

RangeFinderForum.com is Experiencing Server Problems

We are experiencing problems with the hosting provider. We are aware of the problems and are very frustrated that they have not been resolved sooner. We have been assured the backups are fine. We understand this should have been resolved within hours of the failure but we are at the mercy of the service provider.

We hope to be back on line as soon as possible and are sorry about the inconvenience.

Well, it's only been a week or so. I'm sure they'll have it all fixed by Spring.

I hope you are talking about the northern Spring. The southern one has just finished and we've got to wait until next September for next Spring. (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Then after the CLA they'll have to decide on a suitable bag for the server.
Does Luigi do half cases for servers?

And there'll be a 'server porn' thread with 10,000 posts of pictures with servers wrapped with green sharkskin leather and 'soft' on/off buttons.

Oooh! This could be exciting. And a new war, too - Windows vs Linux instead of film vs digital.

I've had my share of disagreements with the mods and admin at RFF, but geez, you guys really like to kick a guy when he's down eh?

Actually I like RFF.

But if it's down hard you can either cry or make the best of it. Crying doesn't help.

Don't forget to mention the required accompanying "poll"....
