HP5+ pushed ISO 1600 ID-11

Hi people,
I've recently made some test shots to find the development times for HP5+@1600. I have found 14 min. in ID-11 1+1 20C to be a good one, and it confused me somehow.

Confusing part is HP5+ recommended dev. time in ID-11 1+1 is 13 min. and the dev. time for iso 1600 in stock solution from digitaltruth is 14 min., and I did the development in 1+1 at 14 min.

I will not get into much detail now to keep the post short. What do you think about it? Is it something about the latitude of HP5+ or am I making some mistakes?

Every photographer has a little different way and style of working, ask 5 photographers who do their own processing what is the right time to develop a specific film at a specific temperature and exposure index, and prepare to get 6 different answers. :rolleyes:

Some will agitate differently, some like negatives a little thinner, some like them a little denser, If 14 minutes at 1+1 works for you, and you can easily make prints, without blown highlights or blocked up shadows, then that's something to make a note of, for future use.

My guess is that you're placing too much faith in the MDC. The MDC is nothing more than a collection of data submitted by photographers. Sometimes the data match the manufacturer's recommendations, sometimes not. There is no attempt on the part of the list keepers, to test and verify the submitted data. I'll refer to it ONLY if I cannot get data the data I want from the manufacturer. When dealing with Kodak and Ilford products, it's no sweat. These two companies publish very comprehensive and very good data for their products. All you need do is go to the respective web sites, download the tech sheets. and read them. Fuji, whose products are first rate in every sense, does not provide as much data as Kodak and Ilford do.

Yes, you are definitely right. I was just surprised and confused that the times are so close. Then EI and ISO stuff came to my mind, may be I did something wrong, or it is just that the film is quite tolerant.
