HP5+ and Ilfotec HC as opposed to Kodak HC-110

Hi there. For many years my go to recipe was Tri-X in HC-110 dilution H. Tri-X became impossibly expensive in the UK and HC-110 is experiencing manufacture and supply changes, not least of these has been the formula change. I moved to HP5+ and it played nicely with the original HC-110 dilution H. I tried Ilfotec HC dilution H with HP5+ and it didn't behave exactly like HC-110. It had more contrast as if it was more active, so I decided to try a reduced time and got a better result at 9 minutes instead of my usual 12 minutes @20°C. I then thought that the logical move would be to adopt Jason Brunner's 1:49 dilution. So that is what I did on my latest film and I think the results are more like I had expected. I exposed @ ei200 and developed 7mins @20°C with continuous agitation for the first 30 seconds and 2 gentle invertions at 3 minutes and 2 more at 5 minutes. I am pleased so far and will develop another film shortly. I feel like any more adjustments would be purely subjective and I am very much in the ball park.

Sorry, I forgot to say ! Ei200 and it seems to give a good balance of shadow detail and highlights.
