hitchcock suggested nails ( from what i remember )

Kinda off topic, but it reminds me of the story about an undertaker.

A woman told the undertaker that her dead husband always was mortified if his toupée was not on properly. She was very insistent that the toupée be on properly and not slip off during the open casket viewing and funeral. The undertake promised that he knew how to make sure that everything would be properly done to keep the toupée in place.

All through the wake and funeral the toupée remained in place. The wife was happy.

A few months later the wife was curious about what the undertaker did to keep the toupée on. So she went to the undertaker and asked exactly what he did to successfully keep the toupée in place when neither the husband nor the wife were able to do that while her husband was alive. The undertaker said, "Simple, I used nails."

Dogs and fidgety kids can always be stuffed in a freezer half an hour in advance of the shoot, just like butterflies. Besides, reflections of ice are always nice in black and white prints.

For infants you can fill their bottle with Benadryl.

Getting the cat fur completely out of the microwave can be problematic.

With the price of Sinar equipment being so low these days- I think a F2 is an excellent choice for portraits. The Bino Reflex housing is very cheap now, and coupled with a Sinar fresnel- very effective.

For portraits, I would consider getting the Sinar auto shutter. If set up properly it is extremely quick to use- the shutter automatically closes when a film holder is inserted, and opens again when a film holder is removed. It also allows you to control the shutter and aperture from behind the camera- another major plus.

Being that they are now a fraction of what they cost ten years ago- its now a viable option for the non professional or independently wealthy. DB mounted modern lenses are also probably one of the biggest lf bargains out there as well these days.

Using the auto shutter also allows you to use barrel mounted lenses easily- a major plus.
