How to scan movie film / good movie film scanners?

Hi guys what scanners can I buy to scan movie film? Medium to high quality, and high volume as well

Don't take this wrong, but that's like asking what sort of car would be good to drive 1000 miles?

Too many particulars are being left out: format(s) to be scanned, desired resolution of image scans, desired end image format, etc., etc.

Chances are, what you want will place you in the lower-end of motion picture scanners which start at $30K USD and go way, way up from there.

Do some research and see if you have trouble believing me; its well documented on the Internet.

Most people wind up sending their film to be scanned, and even that his not cheap at all.

The very cheapest way I know of is here, but I have never used their service. They use a LaserGraphics Scanner like we have at work and this scanner costs around $150K to start; optional formats and accessories are very expensive...

Yale charges $200-$250 per hour, which is actually much lower than what most people paid just 5 years ago.

It's expensive because the scanners are astronomical to buy, maintain and run.

OP, all that you've been told is true. Real people can't afford the good gear. But there is poverty-spec gear that will do what you want. I have no idea what quality any of the devices mentioned by https://flowingprints.com/best-super-8-and-8mm-film-scanners/ will give, that's for you to investigate and decide.

A telecine, such as a Rank Cintel or Kodak Cineon. I think I saw a Kodak on *bay for about 6 grand and that's seems pretty cheap.

There is a movie scanner showing up in my feeds now. $299 for basic or $399 for the “pro” model. B&H has them. I wouldn’t know if you could call them good but looks like they advance the film and take a photo of the frame. What else do you need?
