I just got my FM3A and it is mint. But the base plate is all beat up. The camera is mint, so I decided it is worth to replace the base plate, to make it perfect. I have replaced Minolta base plates, so I am wondering if there is anything I need to know before trying. It seems like I just need to remove the 3 screws. Anyone can help me, and let me know if there is anything else that I need to know before the part arrives?
Thanks

I thought about cooking up a scary list of "tools-you-probably-don't-have-necessary-to-remove-the-base-plate-or-your-FM3a-dies" but decided to play nice.

Relax. It's three screws and careful removal/replacement of the base plate.

Small phillips screw driver is all you need, vodka and oj screwdriver optional.
