How to align LPL 7451 4x5 enlarger?

Hello forum,

How can I actually align a LPL 7451 4x5 enlarger? I get grain softness in the lower part of the final prints. There are no visible controls for adjusting the enlarger head or lens carrier.

My negatives are used with glass carriers and are lying flat when setting focus in the enlarger. And the paper is also being held flat on the baseboard.

You can shim the lens board and you can shim the negative stage. You can also shim the column.

If the enlarger seems to suffer a mis alignment in the front only, it could be that the column has more play than intended. And then, the head bent towards you due to the play and it's weight.
Look if there is something worn on the guidance of the head or a way to adjust the play on the column... It could well solve your problem.
A phone call at the importer's service department could be valuable too ...

I really liked this enlarger so far and I hope it can be fixed without too much trouble. What enlargers are you using?

A big and old Durst Laborator 1000. Discontinued in the 70's...
