Need a little help from all you large format shooters out there...

I'm interested in getting a Nikon Nikkor-M 200mm f/8 as a lightweight alternative to my normal 210mm f/5.6 plasmat, but I have no idea what an excellent to minty example of this lens would fetch nowadays. I found a few old listings here on APUG from about one year ago to as many as a few years ago, and this lens seemed to go for about $350 - $500. Would this be a reasonable price range today or are these puppies getting more scarce which would drive the price upwards?

Thanks for any help provided.

Best regards,
AlanH

If you see one for $350 in good shape then grab it! These little gems don't show up often and from what I have seen do run $400-$500 on Ebay. A clean 300mm will run $400 and they are plentiful so I guess the 200mm prices are not too bad in comparison.

The lens is a favorite of Ken Lee and he raves about it on Large Format Photography Forum. Ken is a moderator on the forum and a heck of a photographer.http://www.kenleegallery.com/html/lenses/

Good luck with your search.

Have you also considered a G Claron 210mm?

Never really thought about that one, since I own a 305 that I just never really warmed up to. But, my 305 is a very early un-coated version of this lens which reduced contrast a bit. I tried increasing development slightly in an effort to more closely match my coated plasmats, but the negs just looked "off." But, thanks for the suggestion! I will look into it.

Best regards,
AlanH

How about a nice 203 Ektar. The later examples are mounted in Compur #0 shutters. Those who've used them rave about them.

The 200M is a gem and worth the wait. Avg $400 in good used condition. I paid somewhat less, but was lucky with timing, when several came
up for sale at the same time.
