I have several rolls of very old T-max 100, exp. 1993. I added 1/3 of exposure, but the negatives are still thin. The developer is Rodinal 1:50 with 13 minutes.

So how should I set the meter, with ASA 50? or lower?

You will just have to run a personal ISO test to figure it out. BTW, I have always had to add one full stop exposure when I soup with Rodinal, even with fresh film.

Sacrifice a roll. Bracket it in half stop exposures. Or 1/3 stop. Somewhere in there you'll find a happy exposure time.

I did not know that Rodinal requires more exposure. This is my first time with Rodinal (branded as Agfa Rodinal). The liquid is like fresh coffee, but it still works.

I'm surprised to see that the film base is very clear. Not sure if this the case with TMX, or Rodinal.

If it has been stored in a fridge id not expect much base fog after 20 years.

The EI you set your meter to depends on the shadow density you want, how you meter and the cameras shutter.

I use close to box ISO for an EI for some films using Microphen or Rodinal but a stop slower would work ok.

The film was sealed in original box. Mostly in basement.

I noticed that the film base has a very light pinkish tone. That makes the film look clearer than the Ilford FP4+. I'm not sure if this is just the film, or I'll need to wash more. I did wash it 5-6 times, then with a Perma Wash, in a Paterson tank.

For T-max film, you need to fix for twice as long as any other film, and wash the crap out of it to get rid of the fricken pink cast, or just live with it.

Confirmed you need to fix by inspection open tank after 3 mins and when the film stops being milky fix for same time again at least.

The pink dye will fade eventually but I use hypo clear and my fix and hypo clear is well pink but the film is clear.

I normally follow Jobo instruction. But this time it is off Jobo because of the Rodinal.... Will wash more....

I find fresh fixer to be important in getting the "pink" out of T-max. I extend my time by 50% when the fixer has been recently mixed. If it's not fresh and has been used a bit, I double the time.

I developed T-max 400 before, both the old and new. Do not recall any pink problem.... But that is Jobo, with 5-min pre-wash. No pre-wash this time.

Tf-5 fixer takes care of the pink on Tmax. I agree with Rick about increasing exposure with rodinal. At least if you want full shadow detail. Decrease develop of its bright and sunny.

some say you over expose 1 stop every 10 years for out of date film

regarding the purple cast
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Not the same emulsion, I know, but I've got a box of TriX from '85 which I use for 'experimental' ideas. I shoot it at 80 and develop in Xtol for the normal time for 400, I get very useable negs from it.
