How much editing is justified?

Heavy editing (analog or digital) on an image is...

  • ...required to bring out the hidden diamond; not doing it demonstrates inexcusable incompetence

  • ...OK if you think it helps

  • ...not a great idea; show some restraint

  • ...an abomination and you should be hanged, drawn and quartered for even suggesting it

Yes, it's always bothered me that "Artist" was a some special title rather than just being a property available to pretty much any human. There is a kind of guild mentality among the arts elites that only Very Special People are allowed.

Not intended to be rude or hurtful. Sorry if it came off that way. Mainly pointing out a great "suggestion" that was implied... introspection is a good thing, for all of us. Please don't be triggered and cancel me...

I'm chuckling as I read this. It wasn't rude and I didn't take it that way. I learned a long time ago that when engaged in debate, it's important to realize disagreement is not an assault on your person, your good looks, or your choice of underwear. It also pretty helpful to remain cheerful and have a sense of humor.

I think I am disqualified from any cable news show or national podcast ... not that they're asking ...

I have found the same attitude exists here, also, but then we are the elite, aren't we?!

The definition of artist will always be as far out as the artists themselves.
