I am off in about an hour for a whole day of vintage Bridge photography, got my maps and routes all laid out. I have about 60 sheets of 4x5 loaded, plus lots of Provia and APX-100 35mm for my Leicas. I may shoot up to 15 to 20 bridges, if I can find them. The REASON I started this thread is to see if many of us actually SHOOT regularly. It is one thing to fondle our equipment, but the meat of photography is getting out there and shooting.

Good for you, and I am envious! A full time job means that I only get to shoot on weekends, and if the weather wants to oblige. Subtract from those the weekends that are dedicated to family and other commitments. However, I do plan to take some days off in the coming months to go out and do some shooting.

Well, yesterday, as stated above previous post, I had a whole day of vintage road bridge photography in Oklahoma. I shot about 16 bridges, some multiple angles, on 4x5 b/w, and also 35mm slides, and 35mm b/w. I think I exposed at least 60 sheets of 4x5...almost ran out of loaded film. Shot from sunup to sundown. Didn't get to all the bridges on my list.

I've been totally negligent in my photograph taking recently. A new job and pet have been taking up too much of my time and I only barely managed a single roll this week. However, I am committed to breaking out the gear this weekend to shoot several rolls.

Actually, when I get off work in a few minutes, I'm going to go out in the backyard and exorcise my build-up of workweek frustrations. I'll set up a target trap and shoot targets with my pellet rifle. (And if that damn squirrel that keeps digging up the wife's flowers and my herbs is brazen enough to try it while I'm out there, I'll shoot his sorry little rodent ass.)

Shot 2 1/2 rolls of Tri-X in 35mm on Tuesday in an around Forrest Hills cemetery in Roxbury (Boston), MA.

Was going to shoot more tomorrow at the St. P day's parade but we're getting hit with a snowstorm in Beantown...

Shot a roll of Ilford 120 today....our illustrious and colorful mayor..."the happiest mayor in America" was holding court at the local coffee shop....the last one was at "Hogs and Heifers" on third....can t post em...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas....and that is probably a good thing for the rest of the planet.

Took 2 shots last night and 4 this morning, all in B&W 35mm. Tomorrow I will probably shoot about 2 rolls of 120 (at least one in color).

When I can't go for a walk or drive, and I get the overwhelming urge to click a shutter, it's amazing how I can see/find things around my own property (indoors or out) to photograph. Some of those shots actually end up as "keepers."

One roll of Acros this week, and two rolls of HP5+ today. There was a steam train special running through here, and it had to be shot!

I shot a roll of APX400 and half a roll of Velvia 50 (both in 120). It was a lovely day with great light.

Not three rolls - just three shots all weekend!

We got dumped with 2 feet of snow (whoever heard of a White St. Patrick's Day!) and I am so sick of trees in snow shots, and fence posts in snow shots and falling down barns in snow shots etc. etc.!

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!

I shot 4 rolls of 120 this weekend. But what's more important is that I got my girlfriend to put down the digicam and pick up a Rolleiflex. She shot 1 roll.

Ahhh, but what about when the weather turns hot & muggy in June, July or August? Don't we all wish for an Adirondack snow shot at that time?

Calm down! Here's something different to relax you.

Don't tell me you don't like cars in snow shots either .

PS: 3 shots isn't bad at all. I am somewhat confused by the general shooting frenzy being reported in this thread.

The more we shoot, the better we get.

No! The more thoughtfully we shoot, the better we get.

The volume does matter at the very beginning when one is fumbling with exposure etc, but with the basics out of the way, it is more about quality than quantity. Of course, if you can keep up the standards AND shoot several dozen LF sheets a day, then kudos to you. My creative juices only go so far.

If we really got better in direct proportion to the volume then digital would be the best thing since sliced bread. I know a lot of digital macro shooters who use their camera as a machine gun. It's the infinite number of monkeys at keyboards syndrome. I only manage a few frames a day even with 35mm macro shooting and get by because I am not guessing where the plane of focus lies or what the exposure should be.
