Far more than I need... slightly fewer than I want!

At least I have the excuse of using several formats.

On Century Graphic Boards (Some of these also for use on my wooden 4x5 / 5x7 field camera when I finish restoring it):
65mm f8 Schneider Super-Angulon
90mm f6.8 Schneider Angulon
100mm f5.6 Schneider Symmar-S
150mm f5.6 Schneider Symmar-S
180mm f5.5 Schneider Tele-Xenar
240mm f5.5 Schneider Tele-Xenar

On Arca-Swiss Boards These get used variously on 6x9, 4x5, 5x7 (/13x18/half-plate) & 10x8 Arcas, and with 6x12 & 6x17 rollfilm backs:
38mm f4 Schneider Super-Angulon XL
47mm f5.6 Schneider Super-Angulon MC (I would love to replace this with an XL and then put this one into one of the Century boards - at the moment it gets switched back and forth)
65mm f5.6 Schneider Super-Angulon
65mm f8 Schneider Super-Angulon (another one, much smaller and lighter than the f5.6)
75mm f6.8 Rodenstock Grandagon
90mm f8 Schneider Super-Angulon
100mm f5.6 Rodenstock Sironar - N (for 6x9, but also covers 6x12)
120mm f6.8 Schneider Angulon
150mm f4.5 Schneider Xenar (came with a camera and is too nice not to keep)
150mm f5.6 Schneider Symmar-S (another one)
150mm f5.6 Schneider Symmar (converts to 265mm)
159mm f12.5 Wollensack Anastigmat W.A. (extreme WA for 10x8)
210mm f5.6 Schneider Symmar (converts to 370mm)
240mm f9 Schneider G-Claron
270mm f5.5 Schneider Tele-Xenar (a long lens to use on the 6x9 monorails, which don't have the bellows otherwise)
300mm f5.6 Schneider Symmar (converts to 500mm)
420mm f9 Schneider Repro Claron

On Arca Boards, used for studio still-life and for macro:
35mm f4 Rodenstock Eurygon
75mm f4.5 Tomioka Tominon - Reverse Tessar
127mm f4.7 Rodenstock Ysaron (I like this much under-valued lens very much)
135mm f4.5 Tomioka Tominon - Tessar
150mm f9 Rodenstock Apo Ronar (another favourite)
180mm f5.6 Tomioka Tominon - Tessar (I don't know much about this apparently somewhat unusual lens, but it is nice on 6x12)
240mm f9 Schneider G-Claron (the same one as above, used as a wide on the 10x8, and in the studio for still-life)
420mm f9 Schneider Repro Claron (the same one as above, used as a long on the 8x10 [and smaller] and in the studio for still-life)

On boards for my Polaroid MP-3 copy/macro camera:
17mm f4 Tomioka Tominon - Symmetrical - 10-20x mag. on 4x5
35mm f4 Rodenstock Eurygon (another one) - 2-10x mag. on 4x5
50mm f4.5 Tomioka Tominon - 6 Element Symmetrical Triplet - 2-5x mag. on 4x5
75mm f4.5 Tomioka Tominon - Reverse Tessar (another one) - up to 4x mag. on 4x5
105mm f4.5 Tomioka Tominon - Tessar - up to 1.5x mag. on 4x5
127mm f4.7 Rodenstock Ysaron - Modified Tessar (another one) - up to 1:1 on 4x5
135mm f4.5 Tomioka Tominon - Tessar (another one) - up to 1:3 on 4x5

Odds and Ends:
75mm f1.9 Ilex Oscillo-Paragon
101mm f4.5 Kodak Ektar
105mm f3.5 Schneider Xenar (2)
128mm f6.8 Dr. Krugener Preminar
203mm f7.7 Kodak Ektar

Plus some cells and a couple of barrel lenses, sometimes used when demonstrating the building of a camera obscura to painters, might get more use if I ever get a Packard shutter or make up a suitable mount to put them on my miniature Speed Graphic.

As for the ones I still want... a 58 SA XL, 110 SS XL, a Macro-Symmar or Sironar, a longer tele lens to take into the field, something longer than my 420 to use on the 10x8, maybe an Imagon or similar. Probably some more if I think about it for long enough... Some of the above I could/should sell if I replaced them with any of these wish-list lenses.

Most of these do get used a fair amount, apart from the oddments.

I have - - - many.

But counting the various casket sets and suchlike as one each, I have less than some.

Phew...

This is my lens cabinet, which holds about half of my lf lenses. I'd guess I have around a hundred lenses, though a third of them would probably fall in the "why don't you throw it against a brick wall and put it out of its misery?" category.

There are around two dozen I keep going back to. A few are in that previously-mentioned category...

For 5X7
105 Fujinon SWD
125 Fujinon SWD
180 Fujinon-A
210 G-Claron
240 Fujinon-A
300 Nikkor-M
450 Nikkor-M
600 Fujinon-C

For ULF
Same 450 Nikkor-M and Fujinon-C
210 Schneider SSXL
240 Computar
270 Computar
305 Computar
355 Symmar Convertible
550 Schneider XXL
30" Red Dot Artar

Most used on 5X7 are the Fujinon SWD 125mm and the Fujinon 240A.

In ULF most used is the 305 Computar and the 550 Schneider XXL.

35mm and medum format not included in the list. In these categories I have a fairly wide range of lenses for the Kiev/Pentacon-6 cameras, as well as a few for the Pentax 645 and Mamiya 711. But this is small change compared to the big boys for ULF.

I am not a collector but a dedicated user so I am always evaluating what I have in terms of the needs of my work. ULF is fairly stable in this regard, but medium format is fairly dynamic in terms of sell and buy.

Well, I don't have as many lenses as Mark. Or time to type my inventory, small though it is. Focal lengths in hand for formats larger than 24x36 are 38, 44, 47, 58, 65, 76, 80, 95, 100, 101, 105, 120, 127, 130, 135, 138, 150, 152, 160, 180, 203, 210, 240, 258, 266, 300, 305, 360, 420, 450, 480. Multiples at a number of focal lengths. Macro lenses that will cover large formats are 18, 25, 40, 50, 63, 72, 100, again with multiples and I've probably forgot a few.

I've pretty much stopped acquiring lenses. I think I can live with the gaps between the focal lengths I have. And I have way too many normal lenses for 2x3, a few of them lovely ex-Soviet artifacts that are completely unusable.

Another impediment to acquisition is that there's a limit to how many I can carry with me when I go a-shootin'. Ole Tjugen, who's been silent in this thead for a while, has reporting having many, many lenses in the same focal length. I went through a phase like that, held shootouts, ... What I learned is that as I shoot 'em good lenses are all nearly enough equivalent. The only problem has been finding good ones that I can afford ...

I have a neighbor who's a serious collector of Zeiss gear. He has a display case with more than a dozen Contaxes, each with a 50/1.5 Sonnar. Also more lenses for formats larger than 24x36 than I can imagine, including a few that I seriously covet. Namely and to wit, 35/4.5 Apo Grandy, 45 Biogon, 53 Biogon, a heap of 75s, a variety of longer f/6.3 Tessars, huge triplets, Super Angulons in many sizes, ... Yes he has 38 Biogons, but so do I. When I need that kind of inspiration I go over and look at his heaps. They're sooo much bigger than mine.

Ian, on a more serious note, I take it your Hexanons are GRIIs. I gave away my 150 because it was a bit too flary, keep thinking about retiring my 210, which is a very fine lens, in favor of a 210/7.7 Dagor type that's smaller, contrastier, and not quite as sharp wider than f/16. How well do your Hexanons shoot?

90mm f/4.5, 121mm f/8, 210mm f/5.6, 240mm f/5.6, 360mm f/6.8, all in DB mount (which is why I could afford them!)

540mm f/11 Copying Ektanon barrel lens.

127mm f/4.7 Ektar (on Graphic board)

180mm f/5.5 Tele-Xenar (on Graphic board)

My most commonly used DB lenses are the 360 and the 121.

Next lens is likely a Fujinon-W 180mm 5.6, primarily intended for my 5x7 field camera (and will be a "normal" lens with lots of movement on 4x5 as far as horizontal AOV goes). After that, probably a 300 convertible. These lenses might sound redundant, but I want them in their own shutters specifically for this one field camera, for which I want a two lens kit.

Very few and humble, given this crowd:

90mm f/8 Caltar (a Rodenstock Geronar low-budget 4 element Tessar-looking thing). Not half as bad as my friends (and I) feared it would be. Better image quality than my alternative wide angle, anyway (a 28mm Nikkor on 35mm). Forget about much in the way of swings and tilts, but it's small and light.

150mm f/5.6 Nikkor. My favorite lens, and i use it the most. A beauty.

210mm f/6.8 Caltar (another Geronar, this time a 3-element). Adequate, but i usually find a way to use the Nikkor instead.
