How many film cameras do you own?

Wow bill! We are in the same boat! I have too many cameras and they are all over. I think last count was 5 or 6 Olympus om bodies alone.

I think I'm currently in the vicinity of 200 cameras. So far this year I've acquired about 55 of varying formats and levels of quality. Everything from silly point and shoots to SLRs to TLRs to a monorail camera.

I envy people who own/shoot only one or two cameras. For me there are just too many fun cameras out there to stick with just one.

I own a Contax RX, two Contax Arias, two Konica Hexar AFs, a Bessa R rangefinder, a Kine Exacta and an Olympus Point and shoot. That's a total of 8 film cameras. I use the Contax's and the Hexar's most often. The Bessa not so much and I've yet to use the Kine Exacta. I haven't used the Oly in years.

Hi,

I'm new here but thought I would chip in with my collection. I do use digital for copying original artwork and we print thousands of limited edition art prints for artists. I also use a Fuji X-Pro1 and X100T for some personal work but when it comes to shooting documentary/projects I always revert to film.

Hi Richard,
I have the following Contax lenses;

25mm f2.8
35mm f1.4
50mm f1.4 (x2)
85mm f1.4
100mm f2.0

I did have the 21mm lens but really hardly ever used it so I sold it. I must admit that I don't do much in the way of wide-angle imaging and most of the time shoot between 35mm and 100mm for documentary projects. The 25mm is there if I need a wider view but it doesn't get used very often.

If I have any concerns it's that there are virtually no service/repair options available for the Contax cameras these days and when the electronics give up that is the end of the camera. Having said that, there are hundreds of really good Contax RX cameras out there for around £120.00 so maybe it isn't a great problem.

The Contax RTS III is my all time favourite camera, but the RTS II is no slouch either.

Nice set of glass David! I have the follow for my Contax SLRs:

35/2.8 PC Shift
50/1.7
60/2.8 Makro
85/1.4
135/2.8
180/2.8
100-300/4-5.6

You should grab the 180 if you can. Beautiful lens. I'm jealous of your 35/1.4 but I do have an older Nikkor version of 35/1.4 I use with my Nikons that I just adore. I had the 50/1.4 Planar but other than better build quality I found the 1.7 to be as good and when the prices skyrocketed on the Contax lenses with all the Canon DSLR users wanting them I sold it and kept my 1.7. That 85/1.4 is a real gem, eh? Lastly my 100-300 I think might be the sharpest long lens I've ever shot. Awkward design and balance but amazing results. Try one of you ever can.

For my G2 I have the 21/28/45/90.

Working cameras, not counting shelf display stuff, 9. 4 35mm, 2 120s, 2 4x5s and 1 digi. Lenses, 9 35mm, 2 120, 4 4x5, digi uses the 35mm.

I may be wrong but based on your previous responses, you are probably the only one who is as dedicated to one camera model in the whole forum. Ok, maybe two models, Canon F-1 and New F-1. And as I recall, bought many years ago. I make no judgement whether that is a good thing or a bad thing . . .

I reckon if you have to be dedicated to a model or two, the two you settled on are formidable.

I made my decision Les many years ago that I'm more interested in photography that accumulating photographic equipment, I have never owned an original F1 or a F1n although they are fine cameras, but I do have three New type F1's which are everything I require in a 35mm camera, end of story.
