How Many Cameras do you Own?

Added a couple. An old Argus C3, which still seems to be functional, and a Hasselblad 500EL/M in black that needs batteries, a screen, finder, and a lens. Total cost for both items: $25. 500EL/M came with a chrome A12 that's missing its darkslide. Kenmore Camera in Kenmore, Washington apparently is having a junk sale this weekend. The 500EL/M came in with dead batteries that wouldn't charge, so, it's possible that it may work fine.

I remember reading somewhere that the backing paper of 120 films was more expensive than the film itself. (that's not exactly packaging, though).

APS was more than just a new format. And in adition it was not just a Kodak invention but a project run by major film and camera manufacturers.
Disc on the hand for example was rejected by Agfa.

After a certain number, around a dozen, one more doesn't stand out as much as if you have one camera and then suddenly have 2. Also, keep buying used cameras so when the sig other asks if that is a new camera, you can say, "No, it's an old one."

Any time I have more than two, it's too many. So I always have too many because I get curious about something else. Curiosity killed the cat, and all that.

Two Pentax SLRs, a KX and an MX, with various lenses.
Two Hasselblad 500 series bodies, with 50, 80, and 150 lenses, and four backs. All not working perfectly currently.
One ZeroImage 2000 pinhole camera.
One Olympus Pen-D half frame camera.
One Minolta P&S camera that used to be my now deceased grandmother's.
Leica M2 with 35mm Voigtlander, 50mm Voigtlander, 50mm Summitar, 90mm Elmar. The camera is broken and currently at repair shop.
5x7 Century #2 with 210mm Wollensak lens and 20 holders. Aiming to shoot some paper negs this upcoming season.
Holga 120N.
Diana (Lomo version) with 35mm insert.
Agfa Clack that doesn't work right and is destined to soon be deposited in the trash bin.
Minox 35GT.

I kind of wish I only had the Hasselblads and the pinhole. Maybe I will go that route in the future. Simple.

I like this idea of listing only the brands. It doesn't sound so bad that way.

It's a possibility. How do I do that with a shutter that doesn't work? If you have any ideas that would be greatly appreciated. I love the 6x9 format and the film transport is bang on.

Cameras are like clothes and shoes. My wife can't tell my cameras apart and I can't tell her clothes and shoes apart.

When did you buy this, honey? Oh, I've had that for a while. Goes both ways!

Usable or collectable?

I have 20 I use on a regular basis, another 500 I could pop a film into and use, plus another 1000 I could use if I really, really wanted to. Then there are the 600 or so I wouldn't bother to use for various reasons....and beforye anyone asks - 98% of my cameras work correctly

Yes - I collect as well as use cameras!

Interesting question. I have, I dunno, maybe 120 or so, but many of them do not work correctly, and quite a few are odd formats that no film is commercially available for (and I'm not willing to have custom film rolled for). Slowly I'm rectifying the non-working ones, but there are some that will never be used, sadly. I'm going to probably be divesting myself of many of my curtain-shutter 35mm SLRs fairly soon, which will free up a lot of space on my piano for new old junk

I cycle through the working ones, though my current carry-round cameras are a couple of 35mm rangefinders I've repaired to working order: an Olympus 35-S and a Ricoh 500, the one that has the bottom-wind trigger, and a 1938 120 Voigtlander Bessa.

I did not realize how many TLR cameras I have until they started to die on me.

Rollei #1 ('flex 2.8 Planar) started to sound rough winding to the next frame, so stopped using it immediately. Rollei #2 ('cord) worked great for a long time, lighter for backpacking -- hinge problems (broken screw) and stopped counting and stopping at each frame. Next up; the Minolta Autocord which eventually developed similar problems as Rollei #2. The focusing handle is broken off, so it not easy to use anyway. Next is Rollei #3 ('flex 3.5 Xenar). "B" has not worked for a long time. It winds and counts okay, but now it will keep winding the film forward instead of stopping at each frame -- but I can still get good spacing between shots if I am careful -- but I accidently left that camera at friends in the East SF Bay Area this past weekend. When I get it back, it and Rollei #1 are off for repairs, maybe even the 'cord. I really enjoy those cameras.

I sent my son two TLRs for his upcoming photo class at Berkeley; a Mamiya C220 and 3 lenses (80, 150, 250mm), and a more portable and simpler Graflex 22.

This leaves me with only my 1948 Ciro-Flex, Model D as my working TLR -- in beautiful condition, a few cleaning marks on the taking lens...maybe I can find a small slip-on hood in my stash of stuff. It has an 85mm 3.5 lens...interesting focal length. In the original box and a leather case in almost new condition. I have yet to run a roll of film thru it. Shutter sounds good. Should be a lot of fun!

All my cameras are Canon FD and my lenses all fit and work on them, as do all my flashguns, I like my gear to make practical sense for shooting pictures with, I'm not a collector. My wife of fifty two years I have always been honest with, I was a photographer when I met her and she knows it's a big part of who I am, in fact she often offers to buy me cameras but I tell her I'm happy with what I have and if I can't take great pictures with it it's my fault not the equipment's.

I just don't go buying stuff out even if I like them, they have to serve a practical use.

Started digital with a Nikon D70 like many.
Then I got a Nikon F100 (film) and then a Nikon FM2n.
After 10yrs of the D70, I got a Nikon D600.
Got into medium format with a cheap $150 RB67 with the 90mm.
Got a Hasselblad 500CM from Keh with a 25% discount.

It's also because Canon A series cameras cost more to service than they are worth.
