I'd bet infact, there is much more cost in packaging a unit than there is in the product itself.
APS was more than just a new format. And in adition it was not just a Kodak invention but a project run by major film and camera manufacturers.Kodak was good at inventing odd film sizes such as 127, 828, 620, APS, disk. ... Ufnortunately not for any nobility of purpose. Most of them did not survive for very long but some like 127 and 620 were very popular..
I refuse to answer this question because of possible threat to life and limb should wife ever discover truth about cameras in my possession! I confess to owning the following brands: Leitz, Zeiss, Fuji,Rollei,Minox,Minolta, Nikon,Minox.

Thomas:Agfa Clack that doesn't work right and is destined to soon be deposited in the trash bin.
Thomas:
Have you thought about converting the Clack to pinhole use?
We might start a thread on "how to smuggle in cameras and stuff, and keep it hidden".
A lenscap shutter? It's a possibility. How do I do that with a shutter that doesn't work? If you have any ideas that would be greatly appreciated. I love the 6x9 format and the film transport is bang on.
I like this idea of listing only the brands. It doesn't sound so bad that way.
Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax, Minolta, Leica, Kiev, Contax, Linhof, Hasselblad, Bronica, Rollei, Rolleiflex, Konica, Fuji
All my cameras are Canon FD and my lenses all fit and work on them, as do all my flashguns, I like my gear to make practical sense for shooting pictures with, I'm not a collector. My wife of fifty two years I have always been honest with, I was a photographer when I met her and she knows it's a big part of who I am, in fact she often offers to buy me cameras but I tell her I'm happy with what I have and if I can't take great pictures with it it's my fault not the equipment's.I like this idea of listing only the brands. It doesn't sound so bad that way.

edit: plus Kodak, Voigtländer, Agfa, Zeiss, and Graflex
It's also because Canon A series cameras cost more to service than they are worth. That worries me too. I don't know any pro repair people who work on film bodies who are very far below retirement age. They're great, enthusiastic, experienced and ... looking to retire before long.
