Whow I am impressed also amazed how David Fokos gets such soft images and still gets good contrast and tonality. Are there any wierd techniques in his printing? Dead Link Removed Thanks for the link BTW some great stuff I didn't know off.

I know David somewhat and from what I know of his workflow the image starts its life as an 8x10 neg that is scanned into a computer with a pretty highend scanner and he then goes over the file sometimes one pixel at al time. He adds and subtracts to the image as he feels necessary. Last I heard he then takes the file to a service bureau and has them output from a Lightjet style machine. The images are in the neighborhood of 36 inches square. He may have switched to an Epson 9500 I just can't remember though. When he shoots the water stuff he likes to use very dark neutral density filters so the water smoothes out like you see in the gallery you pointed to here.

yes Fokos has some nice photographs, but in my eyes, most of his photographs looks like "the same", made with the same light, same day time, same long exposure times....etc.....

Naming photographs has always been a problem for me. Thanks to this thread, I know what I'm going to do. A friend of mine was program director at a radio station in the 80s that went bankrupt. She took home the record library to hold hostage until they paid her. They never paid. She eventually got tired of hauling around a bunch of LPs recorded by obscure 80s bands and gave the LPs to me. I'm stealing the song titles for photo titles. Ha.

Whow that is a complicated and expensive way to get your prints, but maybe it would be hard or impossible to get those results in a conventional way.

His images are good too, would like to see his images blown up as they were shot 4x5. Having seen Keena's work in print form at Photo Paris I am led to believe that he does not like to print that large, i cant remeber but they looked around 10"x10" maybe smaller, would love to see his prints much larger too.

yes kenna's prints are around 8"x8" only...
