Here in America (pronounced Mer-Kuh) we are Americans (pronounced Mer-kuhns) and we expect you to pronounce Efke exactly as we dictate: (OutaBiznezz).

I say F-Kee (my pronunciation...probably wrong)...and I say NEE-KON (Japanese pronunciation).

I snort just about every time I hear NEE-KON. Or when they say ni-kawn, ni - like nickle, and "kawn" like 'lawn' but with a k.

(contrary to our croatian fellow),

I meant the word is Croatian. Myself, I am Italian :D

Although my wife is actually Serbian, and they basically speak the same language as Croatians (which I can speak a little myself too).

Back in 1986, I was attempting to photograph Comet Halley with a group of grad students, one of whom was from England. He corrected me twice: in Halley's home town they pronounce it like "valley", not "hay-Lee" as I was. Also, that's a Nye-Kon you're using, not a Nee-kon

Yes, but Apug has disappeared too...

By the way, we never discussed how to pronounce APUG.

The first syllable is "Eff".
I think Manuel has the right pronunciation for the second syllable:

Thanks - I see the variety of replies but that's how I had it in my head.
Both "e" short and pronounced the same.

For an English speaker that should be unusual.

And as indicated I would not even emphazise the first "e" (contrary to our croatian fellow), though that is rather standard for a German speaker. But if I try it still sounds the same. Must be me...
