An incident reading with the lens of the camera pointed toward the subject, and the cone of the meter pointed toward the lens of the camera, is the way I would do it.

I allways point meter's cone toward light source, unless light is behind subject or at angle of 90 degrees.

I have seen people have strong opinions about those 2 "schools", that is pointing meter's cone toward camera or toward light source...
