If you are not set on making gelatin silver POP, look into albumen printing. Do a search for "albumen & salted paper book". It is on the Stanford web site.

I recall that there was a recipe in the book "Spirits of Salts" by Randall Webb and Martin Reed, but I don't have it handy at the moment. Maybe someone else has it and can tell you more.
