I don't think she even knows what she is shooting anymore. One of her large entourage hands her a camera, with the exposure already set, and she just takes the picture. Then she hands the camera back.

Agree with nyoung above completely...

She gets a lot of money for her assignments, but she also puts up with an unbelievable amount of BS from clients. It's a huge headache.

Actually if you have ever talked to her clients and her former assistants you'll find that you have that the wrong way. She's a huge prima donna and a huge headache to work with or for.

So we've established that as a photographer she's a hack / past her prime / a journeyman; and that as a person she's a prima donna and a headache to work with. Wow.

Wonder why she keeps getting all those high-profile gigs? Must have everyone fooled.

In her new book she explains that she uses whatever equipment is suitable for the job at hand. she is not dedicated to one camera brand.
She started out lucky and just happened to be in the right place at the right time and knew the right people. I wish I had her luck.
I think I admire her work more after I read her new book and reviewed her llifetime of of images.

Who really cares what gear she shoots??? Anybody? Anyone?

She is one of the rare photographers who can use whatever gear she wants. I don't care what she uses. I'm not a fan, but I like her work. Her famous portrait of John and Yoko is pretty remarkable.

She is obviously a talented, intelligent person. I think, at the risk of presuming to speak for others, that the negative reviews come from the fact that she is now basically a tool of the celebrity machine that's overrun so much of our world now.

There's creativity there, sure, but it's a soulless type -- too obviously a product of months or years of marketing professionals' meetings, focus group testing, and promotional demands. It's all about making somebody money -- greedy celebrities, greedier agents and even greedier conglomerates who own them both.

Very little gets revealed or learned with these images; rather, a marketing plan is set into action. That's not quite portrait photography as I know or prefer it.
