"sent from my iPhone6" ???

Does it say that? I only have an iPhone 5s

I can't see where it says that anywhere in my signature haha unless this is a joke, in which case my retort...

"Sent from my IBM selectrix" and yes I used to own one and typed papers on it before I had the IBM AT (which I still own).

In this contest to prove who is the most "regresive" I'm wondering who will be first to say that they deliver their posts to APUG using a passenger pigeon.
Exactly, I didn't realize there were so many Luddite s around in the 21st century.

Hardly a Luddite. I see no reason to clutter my existence with a myriad of annoying gadgets that become obsolete shortly after you bring them home.

I like simple things that work and can be maintained in good order for decades.

For a German gentleman, Emil, you certainly talk more like a Scottish or Yankee fellow. I can say that without fear of being considered a bigot since I am partly one of those and wholeheartedly the other.

Scots, Irish, Swiss (Schweizer Deutsch) on the maternal side, Irish & German on the paternal.
Explains rather a lot, doesn't it? And, I'll be celebrating my 150th birthday next year!

Why did they die?

Too many were hunted and eaten. The last one died from old age and lonliness, I believe. Once the world wsa down to one remaining the future of the species was fairly predictable. Now we would just clone. Then they just mourned.

I recently heard about someone exploring the possibility of cloning passenger pigeons.

If even a Tardis will still function after 51 years of heavy duty service, why not a well cared selinium meter?

I wonder how many of the members who have posted on this thread advocating selenium cell meters have ever used a modern digital Silicon Blue Cell meter like the Gossen Starlite, Kenko KFM-2100 (Minolta Auto-meter V1) or Sekonic L-758
I sold my Western meter years ago and never regretted it I find the digital ones are much better.

Three things go wrong with them. The contacts between the cell and the circuitry oxidise, an easy fix. What kills them though is when the protective coating of the cell deteriorates - then the cell dies. Also, it's important to keep the cell dark unless you are actually taking a reading. My Westons are 55 - 60 years old and are reliable and accurate.
