Anyone who shoots with this system, I recently purchased the nikonos v - I haven’t had much experience shooting. I want to get shark pics very soon. Do you think the built in meter is accurate enough or should I purchase a under water housing for a Spectra Pro IV Incident Meter.

I never had any problems either in the water or above, point and shoot. I've only shot with BW and C41, no slides though. I'm not a diver, just snorkel/near the surface.

Also..I hope you're getting it serviced and all before you put it in the water, especially if you're going diving with it.

I've used this firm, http://www.southern-nikonos.com/ I probably need to send in my Nikonos for a checkup. Turn around was pretty quick, IIRC. Note that I haven't done any real diving with my Nikonos.
As I understand it for very shallow depths - a foot or two - and shooting in rain, etc, pressure testing is probably not needed. Much deeper and best have it pressure tested. Southern Nikonos has a lot of useful info, and is a good thing to read before going underwater.

Bob passed away a while ago so Southern Nikonos is no more as far as I know.

The site is still up, and there is a Contact us button, which gives an email address, FAX and voice numbers. Maybe someone has taken Bob's place? The OP should reach out, and tell us what he finds.

Narcosis101 also has a good reputation for servicing Nikonos cameras.
The Nikonos V has a excellent meter, and does TTL-OTF for flash, I'd suggest just sticking with the built in metering.

I have not used mine underwater and I have had it less than a year. However the above water photographs with both black & white, including with yellow, orange or green filters and color print film are more than adequate in the Auto mode.

I have found the light meter on the Nikonos V to be very accurate for color and black & white films, even then a contrast filter, yellow, green, orange and red, are attached.
