I have been thinking about this for a while and I can't see why it wouldn't work. Why have I never seen a horizontal setup for print developing? You could simply dunk the paper into a large tank split into sections. Does this exist? I can't be the first person to think this could work. Any idea who could help fabricate this?

Like this? http://www.ag-photographic.co.uk/nova-slot-processors-348-c.asp

Steve.

But that is a vertical set-up...

To ease moods... Jobo made a device with oblique slots.

I don't really understand the question

The OP is seemingly thinking of a static slot processor. As those which already were made...

But he's asking about horizontal trays.

All my trays are horizontal already, and if I try to orientate them vertically all the solutions fall out.

He seemingly mixed up "horizontal" with "vertical".

(Pdeeh, what about spinning your trays? Then, by benevolance of centrifugal force your solutions might stay in.)

ah yes, that's probably it

But that is a vertical set-up...

I knew someone was going to say that. If it was horizontal, all the liquid would pour out!

if I try to orientate them vertically all the solutions fall out.

Have you tried this to be sure?!

Steve.

Have you tried this to be sure?!

well yes, but I think it may be because I am using cheap secondhand trays.

Perhaps if I bought new expensive ones, it wouldn't happen. Also my compositions might improve.

You got it! We all overlooked that "large tank" in the question.

Maybe a newer dip and dunk setup like this one?

There are tray stacking frames. I've had them for many years and use them when printing 16x20's. I can fit six larger trays in my darkroom sink in the same space of two. Also agitating presents no problem.
