I have recently rescued a meochrom 2 head for my opemus 5 enlarger and , after a little tinkering and the purchase of a 50p bulb I have a functioning colour enlarger. I intend to use it as an alternative to changing filters for my multigrade papers (Anyone have a source of filtration settings for Ilford MGIV with this head ?) but would be grateful for some other advice, I know how good you guys are
I am tempted to try colour printing, I would start with ready processed negs and the 'mono' developer/bleach kits for room temp processing to begin with. -I don't use a stop bath with BW since I have always been advised that a dilution in a water bath is sufficient, and it works as long as I am consistent; do I need a stop bath with color, if so what is recommended ?
-I assume that the flow is the same as BW i.e developing tray/'stop'/Fixer (bleach ?), am I correct ?
-WHY do color heads have filtration systems and how do you find the correct mix for a print-is it neg dependent or paper dependent ?
-I assume that you run teststrips as per BW, is this correct ?
-AM I completely crazy to even consider doing this when I can get my films developed and scanned to CD by a good lab, within the hour for 35mm and 3 days for 120 film. I know cost is not an issue here, this is my hobby-just want a little more fun/grief (delete as appropriate)
Thanks in advance; CJB
