Hello,

Has anyone here ever experimented with home making Bosscreen style focusing screens? I have been hand grinding my screens and I’m looking for an easier, less time consuming, and brighter way.

I have a source of 1mm optical glass and was thinking that instead of using wax between the two plates, maybe petroleum jelly or some other material to negate the temperature limitations of the Bosscreen.

Thank you

Hi there,

Yes and there are 2 problems:

having everything hot enough to flow BUT not hot enough that it all flows out

Air bubbles

You might want to try a slow-set, thin epoxy. Petroleum jelly would helt-out sooner than wax.

Good luck with it.
