So I'll get a Holga, some 120 stainless reels, a negative carrier, some film...and hit the ground running. I'm kind of jazzed about it.
I want to be comfortable enough with my Holga to take it with me to Cabo in June. When I found out that I was going there, my first thought was how will I be making photographs there. I only considered the 4x5 for a moment. The desire to make interesting pictures and the traveling issues led me to the possibility of pinhole and then to the Holga. I'll take the Holga, a cable release, a cheap tripod, some filters, some film, a light meter and a changing bag...very light kit. I'll bring the film in a ziplock in carry on and make a situational judgement about asking for a hand inspection.
I'm considering getting several Holgas for two reasons. First, I could avoid reloading in the field. Second, it might be noce not to have every print show the same set of optical anomalies...then again, the opposite could be argued.
