Welcome Petros. Your English is better than my Greek!

Yasu Kyrie Petros!

If I could read, let alone speak, Greek, the way you write English, I'd be happy!

(Yes I have been to Athens... and the Pelopponese... and Kriti... and Rhodes... AND I WANT TO GET BACK TO GREECE!)

Cheers,

Roger

Γεια σου Πέτρο, καλώς ήλθες στην τρελοπαρέα μας.
Για οποιαδήποτε βοήθεια, εγώ είμαι εδώ.

I said something about a Robert and a David, something that is best left untranslated... sometimes its fun to write in a language that's all greek to everyone!

Don't worry about the language fluency

I use English as my native tongue, but not always well, particularly when typing. Too much running through my head to get it all through my fingers, I guess.

But I always get a lot out of reading the posts that pop up here all the time. I have always got an answer when I have carefully posted a question with all relevant background details included.

Hope you have the same experience. Happy silver trails...

Dear Aristotelis,

That's why I said 'what else can one say' -- because I'm damned if I know! I spelled it out (that's the extent of my Greek -- I can read things like 'meze' on a menu) and it still meant nothing to me...

Cheers,

R.

Welcome Petros, and don't worry about your English. This place is kind enough to foreigners that we even have a moderator for whom English is a foreign language!

And who would that be?

Just to be a jerk, "meze" really is a turkish word.

Yeah, but it's what's on the menu. Meze/mezedes. I can read enough Greek to order Greek food, which I think is wildly under-rated. Anywhere else, I spell it out and find that usually it is, indeed, all Greek to me.

Oh: the other thing I can read is signposts.

Cheers,

R.

Can you read the signs on the posts or is it just the posts you can read?

Oh yes, Welcome Petros. Don't worry about your English, it's better than some who have it as a main language!

Steve.

Well, I pasted Ari's greeting into babelfish and got this:
"Geja your Petros, well you came in trelopare'a our. For any help, i I am here."

I second that. We are all here to help! Welcome from Sydney, Australia.

Tony

(never been to Greece but one of my high school friends was a greek australian called James Minas. We tried to pass ourselves off as twin brothers separated at birth to impress the chicks... no, it never worked! ... at University my best friend was another Greek lad called Chris Agganis who was much more successful than me with the ladies...)

Hi Petro,

I live in Athens too (North) and welcome you to our company...

I also am part of a small group of people who love photography and meet every now and then in Drossia... we are planning to have a darkroom soon... if you're interested in joining us, email me at papanton@hol.gr

cheers
