Enterprise,
Hi I am new to the site and to photography. I don't have much experience at photgraphy. I just know I love to take pictures and I feel that I have a eye for it with a little more experience. I have a N55 Nikon camera. I use 55mm film usually kodak 800. I always have my film developed since I do not have a dark room. I like mostley taking pictures of people and animals. I haven't read any photography books yet but plan on getting some this weekend. Any suggestions are welcomed and I will try to improve the size of my pics. Thanks!!!

Good luck ! It's a long road make lots of mistakes and have fun with them.

Good luck, Melinda, don't lose your infatuation with this wonderful art form. Beyond anything else have fun with it.

Welcome, Melinda
Your larger scans are much better. They do show interesting seeing.

Since you are not yet processing your film, I'd recommend getting books of photos and really studying. Look at what makes the pictures work. Get anything by Michael A. Smith, if you can find his books. Or go to his web site
http://www.michaelandpaula.com

I'd recommend going to the library - look for Edward Weston, Atget, Ansel Adams. They don't photograph the kinds of things that you do, but they are masters. Studying them will help your vision and give you a sense of the history of photography.

Keep reading this forum and asking questions. Good luck.

Melinda:

Welcome to APUG - the best discussion group around!
This group is the most informed on the net and advise is plentiful and correct. Beware of other news groups (rec.photo... et c.) A lot of misinformation is there along with acetic remarks from people with nothing else to do (certainly not photography).

Your photographs already show a good "eye" and talent.

Sincerely, dr bob.
