Hi everyone,
I have been photographing for many years now. First film, then digital, then film again.
I have always considered the content of an image, its subject, as a photograph's highest value, which undoubtedly it is. However, my mistake was to assume that a good subject and pose defend themselves in a way that justifies my being careless about technical execution. So my way to go was: 400 iso, 1/60 f=5.6 regardless of the weather, then put it in Rodinal for 3 pop songs, agitate every chorus.
Of course, that was so wrong. But it took me quite a long time and many hours spent looking at the pictures of _good_ photographers to realize just how ignorant I was.
By reading the discussions and articles here, I intend to learn from those many good photographers who have mastered both content and technique, and I intend to learn patience, diligence, planning, and attention to detail.
To start with, I will have a question about a recently acquired rather rare enlarger, but that's not the subject of this forum.
All the best to everyone here,
Adam Podstawczyński
