Hi all !

Phew I can't say how relieved I am to have found this 35mm film web forum as I was beginning to feel extinct !

Definitely no expert and happy to still be amateur as ever and why I've still got and occasionally use my 1981/2 Konica TC with telefoto, but since the shutter button recently refused to depress every shot, finally gave in a bought a digital movie camera (Sony Cybershot) which luckily I needed anyway. Talk about information overload I'm still trying to work things out but already really missing the simplicity and artistic freedom of my Konica TC. Only recently semi-retired I was just starting to indulge myself in abstract impressionism by playing around with slightly out focus shots but now need to find someone locally or fairly near to try and repair it asap....

Very interested to hear other's experiences of course, but if it isn't common knowledge I discovered only last week that large Boots' stores do a 1 hour colour development service using Ilford XP2 with Process C41 which is really good news !

In anticipation of lots of interesting and creative discussions....

David

Just remembered I've still got my hardly used Zeiss Ikon Perkeo 506 slide projector too....

Hi thanks for the welcome.

At the moment really struggling to find a film camera repair place without it being sent away locally, could you recommend anyone ?

Thanks

Used Konica TC's aren't expensive. I'd recommend replacing rather than fixing it. You should be able to get one with a decent lens for much less than the cost of repair.

Hi again and thanks for the welcome, not too far from Barnstaple myself

Not knowing the repair costs I hadn't got as far as a replacement, but thinking about the telefoto definitely a good idea to keep up my sleeve as I'm anxious to get started outdoors before Autumn sets in. Presumably the best place to start looking would be used on Amazon rather than ebay which can be risky....?

Amazon is no less risky than Ebay for used goods. Anybody that can sell on eBay can sell on Amazon.

A quick look on eBay shows lots of Konicas available for under £40 with 50mm kit lens. If you are patient, you should be able to find a good one for much less. Obviously being old cameras there is a chance they won't work perfectly, but most cameras I've bought from eBay have been fine. Just be careful to check the seller's history.

There are countless cameras for sale, maybe something non-Konica tickles your fancy?

There are plenty of bargains out there and just as many rip-offs! as long as you are careful and know the value of what you want to buy you should minimise the risks.

Thanks. What I meant about Amazon being less risky than EBay is that you have, if you pay via Amazon, their automatic A-Z guarantee of money back if not satisfied, rather than as I've had occasionally in the past difficulties with Ebay to obtain a full refund - especially if from Hong Kong etc.

In fact the reason I'm looking for another Konica TC is I've already got a long telefoto lens for it so wouldn't want to risk it not fitting some other camera. However I need to see what the situation is with mine first then decide....

No worries. Just sharing my experience.

I've bought way too much camera equipment on ebay and most of it has been fine, much of it better than expected (i.e. I bought a couple of cameras sold as spares or repairs which ended up working perfectly).

I got an Olympus OM-10 with 50mm f1.8, in fantastic condition for 99p + postage.

There are bargains out there, but the danger of ebay is buying too much gear! A quick look at ebay shows a few TCs for not a lot of money.

There are "Fully tested" bodies for £19.95 including postage. And you should be able to do better than that!

Thanks if it does sound too expensive to repair I'll certainly go for a replacement body alright !

Hi again. Well turned out my old Konica TC wasn't too bad after all only the occasional pic not appearing properly, something to do with making sure the wind on lever is pushed right to the end and not 99% I think. Anyway 33 good pics out of 36 after all these years in the cupboard isn't too bad so very pleased.

Since been experimenting with impressionist Monet type prints however a long, long way to go yet....!
