Paterson tanks need the centre column to be light tight and the Hewes reels won't fit around that column.
Unless one buys the ones that were made for Paterson tanks, that is.

Fair comment.Unless one buys the ones that were made for Paterson tanks, that is.![]()
What are your films' emulsions coated on?...So nice not to have to deal with any plastic.
This is presumably someone looking at the Hewes and assuming that somehow because the actual spirals are rounded rather than square in cross-section, and therefore the flow caused by natural convection in the tank will be different, and so that will somehow therefore eliminate the risk of bromide drag or uneven development, or both.
Hmm.
But, if you really want to spend all that money on Hewes reels, I'm pretty sure they make a version that is specifically for Paterson tanks. Easy enough to check their website for details I guess.
I've never seen Hewes reels for Paterson tanks
OK, [correction] I've never seen Hewes reels with Paterson cores in the USA. I was expecting something more like the Hewes/Jobo hybrid with a plastic core suitable for horizontal rotation. I have some Hewes I bought for an King Concept Enterprise processor that might also fit will have to try it later. I like days when I learn something.
And now I found them on Freestyle in the USA. Sheesh.OK, [correction] I've never seen Hewes reels with Paterson cores in the USA. Actually more than that since I sold camera equipment for many years and have also used Hewes reels on and off since the late 70's.
Posting from the hip: A lifetime of humiliation
5 Minutes with Google: Priceless
Where? And now I found them on Freestyle in the USA. Sheesh.
Good one! And it is one of the few proper uses of plastics...What are your films' emulsions coated on?![]()
Hold the reels without too much tension.I like the two prongs... it's what to do from there that seems to be my problem.
